Menorca, Mediterranean coves ⚓️⛱
There are no mountains here, but rather a profusion of small coves with soft sand, scattered along the coast. A footpath connects them all, leading to the discovery of these hidden gems inaccessible to cars, a true delight for hikers. This path is called the "Camí de Cavalls," and its 185 km were, in the early 2000s, the result of strong public pressure to reopen this old customs trail.

From the orange sand beaches of Binimella in the port of Fornells.
A short minibus ride takes us near the wild beach of Binimella. Here, the coastline is characterized by cliffs and prominent headlands, protecting the island from the Tramuntana wind. The trail leads us towards Cape Cavalleria and its rugged rocky landscape. We discover the small cove of Sanutges and the boats resting in its sheltered waters. The path then approaches Fornells, and we reach the town and its small port, always skirting the sea.

FROM LLUCALARI TO CALAS, THE WHITE SAND COAST AND THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL REMAINS.
We depart by bus heading south for a quick journey: the island's 20 km width (about 50 km long) is covered in no time. Here we are in Lucalari, where we join the "Camí de Cavalls," a coastal path that circles the island, leading us towards Cales Coves. The cliffs surrounding this cove are unique in that they have been perforated and once served as an early Christian necropolis. Aromatic plants, pine trees, and white sand adorn the beach of Cales Coves.
We continued along the trail for another half hour to our destination before returning by bus. During the transfer, we took a short detour, and the bus took us up to Monte Toro, which, at 358 meters, is the highest peak on the island and offers magnificent panoramic views.
5h00 hike - 280m ascent and descent

FROM CAPE FAVÀRITX AND ITS BLACK ROCKS TO THE PORT OF LOS GRAU.
A bus transfer through the Menorcan countryside, followed by a hike to Cape Favàritx and its lighthouse... With its bare, windswept rocks, the landscape here is more reminiscent of Iceland than the Mediterranean. But the rocks are immediately covered in wild olive groves, swept by the Tramuntana wind, and the rocky landscape gives way to fields and seaside meadows. Fine sandy beaches lie beside small cliffs, and soon "s'lla des conills," or Rabbit Island in Menorcan, appears before us.
Finally, we arrived at the small town of Port des Grau and the marshes of the natural park of the same name. A short walk along the park's trails and our hike ended at the port and its white houses. A short bus transfer took us to Maó (Mahón) and we strolled through the town and its port. To end this busy day, we returned to Fornells after a half-hour bus ride.

FROM SANT TOMÁS TO CALA GALDANA. THE WILD COVES OF THE SOUTH.
The walk begins on the beautiful beaches of Santo Tomás, with a pleasant stroll along the sand before joining the cove trail. This path winds its way up and down between small limestone and sandstone cliffs, through scrubland and pine forests, following the coastline from cove to cove along one of the most pristine sections of this southern coast. The secluded coves unfold one after another, each an invitation to swim... a spectacle of turquoise waters and multicolored rocks awaits. Return to the hotel from Cala Galdana.
4h15 walking time - 300m ascent and descent

FROM CALA PILAR TO CALA MORELL.
The road winds between green hills and the occasional farmhouse where cows graze peacefully. A 20-minute bus ride through this beautiful scenery brings us back to the starting point of the walk. Menorca's geological variety is evident in its diverse landscapes, colors, and even vegetation. For this reason, just past Cala Pilar, we find beaches of red pebbles, followed by white sand beaches and towering, multicolored cliffs surrounded by typical Mediterranean scrubland, dotted with fields of grain and ancient cisterns. We walk along the coast, occasionally returning inland to admire properties that bear witness to a vibrant countryside thanks to the island's famous cheese: Mahones. Here we are, at the end of the walk to Cala Morell and its whitewashed buildings. On the return bus ride, we stop in Ciutadella for a visit to the center of this small town, undoubtedly the most beautiful on the island. Its shaded streets lead us to the cathedral, the port, and its small covered market. Early dinner at the port with tapas and return to the hotel with our private bus.

FROM CALA EN BOSCH TO CALA GALDANA, THE MYTHICAL CAVES.
We began our hike with the Serra de Tramuntana mountains of nearby Mallorca clearly visible on the horizon. After a bus transfer to Cala en Bosch, we discovered a network of small, unspoiled coves along the trail. Over the next five hours, we explored a small paradise virtually untouched by human intervention. This coastline is one of the most beautiful in the Balearic Islands. White sandy beaches and, above all, stunning coves with crystal-clear waters are linked by the coastal path, which offers breathtaking views. At the end of the walk, we reached Serpentona through a beautiful Aleppo pine forest. We returned to the hotel by bus.
