Canary Islands,Lanzarote between volcanoes, vineyards and the ocean 🌊 🌋
Walking in Lanzarote is a unique experience. Its landscapes, marked by more than 300 craters, constantly remind us of the island's volcanic origins. Strolling through this mineral world dotted with volcanoes, vineyards, and palm trees, discovering and exploring the coast and the small island of La Graciosa, where we'll spend a night, is the best way to discover this island full of surprises and so different from the other Canary Islands.

ARRIVAL AT LANZAROTE AIRPORT AND TRANSFER TO OUR ACCOMMODATION.

TIMANFAYA NATIONAL PARK
These volcanoes, more than 25 of them, rose from the sea in the 18th and 19th centuries during a series of dramatic eruptions that buried ten villages under lava. Today, it's a national park, and its landscapes are among the most incredible in Europe. Our hike takes us among these volcanoes, allowing us to better understand the volcanology of these islands in general, and Timanfaya in particular, where at certain times the surface temperature exceeds 100°C!
At the end of our walk, we'll visit the famous restaurant "El Diablo," designed by the Lanzarote artist César Manrique, and its unique "kitchen," where food is cooked using the heat emanating from the earth. We'll spend the night in Famara.4h30 on foot - elevation gain: +/- 280 m

FROM THE MOUNTAINS TO THE SEA. LOS AJACHES NATURAL MONUMENT.
In the south of the island lies the Los Ajaches Natural Monument. Landscapes here are marked by the contrast between lava and volcanic ash and the blue of the sea. The path leads us from Femes—a typical Canarian village—to Los Quemados beach. Ancient trails once used by herds of goats allow us to descend towards the sea, offering views of the Barranco de la Higuera ravine and the neighboring island of Fuerteventura.
Finally, after some ups and downs, the path passes three beautiful coves before reaching Los Quemados. We can swim in each of them. We'll spend the night in Famara.
3h30 on foot - elevation gain: + 190 m -430 m

LAVA AND THE VINEYARD. VINEYARDS OF LA GERIA.
After the 18th-century eruptions, this part of the island was almost unusable for agriculture. Only through great effort and a technique typical of Lanzarote have the inhabitants of the farms managed to produce Canarian wine from the volcanic ash.
We'll travel through characteristic vineyards and beautiful landscapes along the road that leads to the town of Uga, passing by the Tinasoria crater. Today we'll visit the Rubicon vineyards, with a history dating back to the 16th century, where we can taste the local wine, and then the small San José Castle, which houses a small art museum. We'll spend the night in Famara.

FIRST DAY IN LA GRACIOSA.
A small island north of Lanzarote, which we reached after a short sail, La Graciosa is timeless, and arriving at its port is always a special moment. After leaving our things at the hostel, we set off on a hike to discover the island's hidden coves, perfect for swimming. Our route takes us south, offering views of the impressive cliffs of neighboring Lanzarote. Overnight in a hostel on La Graciosa.
3 hours of walking - elevation gain/loss: +/- 150 m
-
SECOND DAY IN LA GRACIOSA.
Second day of discovering this haven of peace. We set off for "Las Conchas" beach and further on to the northernmost point of the island, Punta Gorda, with its view of the neighboring islets of Montaña Clara and Alegranza. Swimming, a picnic, and then back to Lanzarote and our beachfront accommodation on Famara beach.
4h30 on foot - elevation gain: +/- 250 m
-
THE RISCO, THE VALLEY OF A THOUSAND PALM TREES AND CÉSAR MANRIQUE.
We begin the day with an ascent to the Corona crater, a natural viewpoint overlooking the north of the island, and continue with one of the island's most spectacular excursions, following the ridge of "El Risco" before arriving at the beautiful town of Haría, nestled in a valley of a thousand palm trees. It was in this town that the artist César Manrique spent his final years. We will see his house as we stroll through the town before heading by minibus to Los Jameos del Agua, a volcanic tunnel where the artist left his mark. Dinner is on your own, and overnight stay in Famara.
4h30 on foot - elevation gain: +/- 280 m
-
TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT.
If flight schedules allow, visit Arrecife, the island's small capital, and transfer to the airport.
